Lazio welcomes Gattuso as their new trainer, Romagnoli leaves for Qatar
Lazio welcomes Gennaro Gattuso as their new coach in Formello. At the same time, the departure of captain Alessio Romagnoli to the Qatari Al Sadd is almost complete, which will earn the club approximately 3 million euros.
It's an eventful day at Lazio; the club is transitioning to a new era with Gennaro Gattuso at the helm. The former coach, accompanied by assistant Riccio, made an appearance at the training complex in Formello on Monday. Technical director Fabiani showed Gattuso around and introduced him to all the facilities. Later in the day the first personal contact with club president Claudio Lotito also took place. The official signing of the contract will follow soon, formally establishing Gattuso as the new head coach of the Roman club.
The club also provides clarity on the transfer market: Lazio will only make purchases this summer if players are sold first. That condition seems to have already been met, now that the departure of captain Alessio Romagnoli is almost formal. After a failed transition in the winter, Lazio has now reached a final agreement with Al Sadd from Qatar. Romagnoli will leave the club and Lazio will reportedly receive around €3 million for their captain. The defender has a lucrative three-year contract ready in the Middle East with an annual salary of approximately 6 million euros. It is expected that all formalities will be completed within a few days, after which Romagnoli will head to Qatar to start his new adventure.
