Netherlands – Morocco (Monterrey) Another long route beckons for the Dutch team: the Netherlands has been in a World Cup final three times, three times without a final victory. This summer the team is not one of the absolute top favorites, but it is one of the serious contenders. The first hurdle is Morocco, a tough opponent who is back at the top four years after the historic semi-final. The Atlas Lions finished second in their group, on goal difference and equal on points with Brazil. The poster in Monterrey is possibly the most balanced showdown of the day and could develop into a thriller. Moreover, you can count on an orange-colored stadium: the Dutch fans are taking over the Mexican host city en masse.
In short: a historic superpower against a disciplined challenger, a favorite against a survivor and a promising winner with the Dutch team. Day 19 of the 2026 World Cup has all the ingredients for a memorable evening in the knockout phase.
