Tottenham is betting on Sandro Tonali, Newcastle is asking for more than 100 million

Tottenham Hotspur is accelerating its efforts for Sandro Tonali. The Italian midfielder is at the top of coach Roberto De Zerbi's list to strengthen Spurs' squad and has reached a full agreement with the London club. There were also other interested parties such as Manchester City and Arsenal, but Tottenham seem to have the advantage at the moment.

However, an agreement still needs to be found with Newcastle United. The Magpies value Tonali at a minimum of £100 million, around €115 million, and have no intention of giving a discount. Tottenham's latest offer would still be far from the asking price of the Newcastle club, which is already looking for a possible replacement.

One of the names that comes into the picture is Felix Nmecha, the German midfielder of Borussia Dortmund, who is currently active in the World Cup with his national team. Nmecha has a contract until 2030 and a buyout clause of €85 million, an amount Newcastle could consider investing if Tonali leaves.

The negotiations come during a period of strong economic activity for Tottenham, with the Lewis family recently investing a further £100 million in the club. Meanwhile, Newcastle are also holding out on Bruno Guimarães, who has had an initial offer from Arsenal of less than £60m rejected.
