Italian side Como have extended Ivan Smolcic's contract, highlighting his important role in the team and historic qualification for the Champions League.
Italian side Como have officially extended Ivan Smolcic's contract until June 2031. The club emphasized in a statement that the Croatian defender, who joined Como in January 2025, has played a prominent role in the team. During his time at Como, Smolcic has made 41 appearances and provided two assists in both Serie A and Coppa Italia. His consistent performances, defensive solidity and willingness to adapt make him a valuable player in Cesc Fàbregas' team. This season, Como reached an important milestone with their first Champions League qualification.
Speaking about his contract extension, Smolcic said: "I immediately felt at home at Como, and the extension means that we are both happy to build our future together. I have improved tactically and defensively, encouraged by the coach in a fantastic and multicultural team. Last season was incredible. I am confident that next season will be just as good, if not better, because we will be playing in the Champions League. We will do our best."
