Sabatini: "Allegri is the right choice for Napoli"

Walter Sabatini spoke during a radio broadcast about the choice of the future coach of Napoli, which fell on Massimiliano Allegri instead of Vincenzo Italiano. "I don't want to go into too much detail about the choice. I know they are different trainers with different stories. Allegri represents a great guarantee for Napoli. The sporting director also defended the decision to choose the Livornese coach despite opposition from supporters. "De Laurentiis has often been right, almost always. He has seen things before others did. I still remember that when Sarri came to Napoli, he was practically unknown to the general public. That was a very brave choice. I called him to say that I admired that decision. Sarri is now the Sarri that everyone knows, but that was certainly not obvious at the time. De Laurentiis knows exactly how to orient himself. He is someone who not only judges trainers, but especially the people behind the coaches. His work requires constant interaction with people, their qualities and shortcomings. In football, he has a great advantage.

Finally, Sabatini touched on the topic of the national team coach: "I think that the confirmation of Silvio Baldini would be an act of great sensitivity and foresight. Baldini is a free man. Not because others are not, but because he does not belong to a certain lobby or movement. I got to know him when he trained Viareggio in the Serie C2 and was also able to appreciate him during a trainer course. He is truly a person of great quality. I hope the next Federal President decides to keep him, despite important names like Mancini and others being mentioned. It would be a smart choice, because Baldini is a man of great personality.
