Riyad Mahrez ends his impressive international career with Algeria
Mahrez retires after 119 international matches and an African Cup with Algeria. The wing attacker will remain active at club level with Al-Ahli.
Riyad Mahrez has announced that he will end his international career with Algeria. The 35-year-old attacker, who plays for Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, announced the decision immediately after the elimination of Algeria in the sixteenth final of the World Cup, where his team lost to Switzerland.

Mahrez played a total of 119 international matches and was directly involved in 85 goals. He experienced his absolute highlight in 2019, when he won the African Cup of Nations with Algeria. His injury-time free kick in the semi-final against Nigeria, which sent Algeria to the final, remains one of the memorable moments in the country's football history.
Mahrez remains active at club level. His contract with Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia runs until the summer of 2027. He previously excelled at Leicester City and Manchester City, among others, with whom he achieved great success at the highest level.
