PSG is competing with Liverpool for talent Diomande from RB Leipzig

The transfer battle for the Ivorian talent Diomande is taking serious shape. According to reports from Germany, including BILD, RB Leipzig recently outrightly rejected a bid of no less than €100 million from Liverpool. The German talent base does not want to let their 19-year-old wing attacker - currently active in the World Cup on behalf of Ivory Coast - leave just like that.

It is no surprise that Diomande is in the spotlight given his rise over the past year. The dribbler, fast, technical and deployable in several positions up front, is considered one of the greatest African talents of the moment. Liverpool saw him as the reinforcement for the future and made a record attempt to purchase, but got stuck due to the determined attitude of the Bundesliga club. Leipzig would only start talking for an amount well above €120 million.


Now BILD reports that Paris Saint-Germain has explicitly entered the fray. The French top club, known for their enormous financial capabilities, is said to be in direct discussions with Diomande's management. An official offer from Paris seems imminent, which could cause a real transfer battle. Leipzig itself seems to be pushing for this, because such a bidding war would - given the recent transfer market - only drive up the price even further. Diomande also does not yet have a release clause in his contract, which gives Leipzig an advantage at the negotiating table.

Although Leipzig ideally wants to keep the star player for at least another season and is in discussions about a new, improved contract, the pressure is increasing now that several European superpowers are reporting. For Liverpool, Diomande's transfer threatens to turn into a financial test of strength, in which PSG will become a formidable competitor. For now, Diomande is focusing on his World Cup campaign with Ivory Coast, but the transfer rumors seem to have only just started.
