Pau Cubarsí has explained the guidelines he receives from former Spanish international and former captain Carles Puyol in the run-up to the 2026 World Cup. According to the young defender of the Spanish team, Puyol is a steady pillar with clear, simple principles.
"I didn't speak to him directly just before the World Cup, but I did before. We keep in touch every now and then and I can always count on him; he helps me a lot. He tells me to never give up, to be myself, to be young and to always keep improving, and above all to stay calm," Cubarsí told Mundo Deportivo.
The 2026 World Cup will be played from June 11 to July 19. Spain will face Cape Verde, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay in the group stage.
