In a World Cup preview on the BBC, Giroud shares his admiration for Bouaddi: "I was impressed by his maturity and the healthy environment in which he is developing. He is calm and has a lot of self-confidence, which sets him apart from many of his peers. He is a great talent for both Lille and the Moroccan team."
Within Lille, Bouaddi is regularly compared to great midfielders from the past. Giroud says: "Colleagues and friends often compare him to Patrick Vieira and Sergio Busquets. He may not be at their level yet, but he has similar qualities."
Giroud sees one area for improvement for the talent: "What is still lacking is his sharpness in front of goal. We often have to remind him of that in the team. His transfer value is therefore now around 60 to 70 million euros, which is the standard on the current market. It will be difficult for Lille to keep him. If he becomes more aggressive in front of goal, I can easily see him playing for Real Madrid from next season."
With Giroud's praise and international interest, a major transfer for Bouaddi seems only a matter of time.
