Novara brings in youth expert Massimo Gardano

Novara has taken a big step for their organization and youth academy by appointing Massimo Gardano, a true 'guru' of youth football in Piedmont, from neighboring Vercelli. Gardano, who previously coached in both Serie C and Serie D, has an impressive track record in scouting. Since 2021 he has been active at Pro Vercelli, where he started by managing the Under 19s and then the entire youth academy. He has discovered several players who now not only strengthen the team, but also contribute financially to the club.


Under his leadership, the talented Mohamed Seck, a central defender, and twin brothers Asane and Ouseynou Sow have emerged. After a few appearances in the first team, Seck moved to AS Roma for 600,000 euros, where he has now become a regular in the Primavera and has even been called up by Gasperini, despite not having played yet. Asane Sow has scored seven goals and provided seven assists in 41 games, leading to a transfer to top European club Basel for around €800,000. His twin brother Ouseynou has also played regularly (30 appearances) and has shown his potential, giving hope that he can follow in his brother's footsteps and also contribute to Novara's future successes.

Gardano's work at Pro Vercelli has led to the building of a youth academy that offers many players the opportunity to progress to the first team and potentially to bigger clubs in the league or in Europe. With this appointment, Novara hopes that they can also discover and develop some gems in the coming years, which they can then resell for further growth.
