Milan is focusing on retaining star players: emphasis on Pulisic and Modric

Milan's policy strategy currently revolves around continuity and retaining the biggest names within the squad. After a major restructuring at managerial and technical levels, owner Gerry Cardinale sees Christian Pulisic as one of the pillars for the future. Despite his contract until 2027, with an option until 2028, the American attacker is the subject of a striking transfer offer.

An offer worth millions came from the United States from New York City FC: a five-year contract with a salary of ten million dollars net per season. Yet Cardinale firmly rejected this proposal. For the owner of RedBird Capital, Pulisic is the face of the Milan project in this new phase. There is even speculation that management will sit down with Pulisic again to discuss a contract extension early, despite the fact that those talks made little progress last season.


Luka Modric is in a different position. The Croatian midfielder can choose to continue playing for Milan for another year, but is also actively looking at an offer from Real Madrid for a position in José Mourinho's staff after his active career. Cardinale continues to hope to persuade Modric to stay on the field. A final choice from Modric is probably only expected after the World Cup in 2026.

Milan appear determined to guard the core of the team this summer, with both names crucial for the coming seasons.
