Italian football is in mourning after the death of Igor Protti. The former Livorno striker and club icon has died at the age of 58 after a long illness. His death leaves a great loss for everyone who knew him.
Trainer Luciano Foschi reflected on the loss and shared warm memories of their early years together to TuttoMercatoWeb. “When we were young we played together at Virescit under Magistrelli. We spent many evenings with our wives, Patrizia and my wife Monica, playing games and laughing together. His strength, stubbornness and will to succeed were always characteristic of him.”
Foschi told how their paths later crossed again in Livorno, now in different positions but with “the same hunger and drive” as before. “He will be greatly missed by me and by all who knew him.”
The trainer concluded with a message of support to the relatives: "I sympathize with the entire family, the children, Patrizia and his new partner. We also send a very big hug on behalf of my wife."
