Liverpool rejects Inter's bid for Curtis Jones and asks for €40 million


Inter have had a new bid of around €25 million for Curtis Jones rejected by Liverpool. The English club are irritated by the Nerazzurri's attempt to sign the midfielder for a price much lower than their valuation. According to The Times and confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool value Jones at around £35 million, which equates to around €40 million. In addition, Liverpool are looking for a sell-on percentage of between 10% and 15% as part of any deal. The difference in valuation between the two clubs remains significant, and negotiations are unlikely to progress quickly at their current positions. Despite the rejection, Inter holds two important cards. Jones himself is keen to leave Liverpool, and new Anfield coach Andoni Iraola has made it clear that the Englishman is not in his plans. Iraola seems to be more willing to bet on a transfer of Elliott Anderson or another top signing for the midfield. The combination of the player's desire to leave and his exclusion from Iraola's project gives Inter confidence that a deal can eventually be reached, even if the current amounts are far apart. Inter are aiming to complete the deal before the start of their pre-season in mid-July, giving both clubs a clear deadline to work towards in the coming weeks.
