Liverpool misses Diomande and moves through: Barcola, Minteh and

Liverpool have suffered a blow in the search for a new right winger. According to various reports, the club offered a total of approximately 100 million euros for Yan Diomande, but RB Leipzig rejected that proposal. In addition, the 19-year-old winger is said to have made it clear that, should he leave, Paris Saint-Germain is his preferred destination. Personal terms are reportedly already in place, with which Liverpool sees the main target of this summer slipping away.

From a sporting point of view it is a setback, but not a crisis. The strategic question in Liverpool remains the same: how do you replace the output on the right after the departure of Mohamed Salah? Diomande fit the bill perfectly with his explosiveness, dribbling and double figures in both goals and assists in the Bundesliga. That profile – left-footed, from the right, productive in one-on-one – is scarce. The club must now determine whether to target a nearly identical player again, or redesign the offense more broadly so that production is more collectively accommodated.

A name that has been circulating for some time is Bradley Barcola. The 23-year-old Paris Saint-Germain winger has proven himself at the top level with stable production. However, he is a left winger by nature, while Liverpool are urgently looking for reinforcements on the right. In modern top football, position labels are less absolute and inverted wingers often play a key role. Barcola would bring immediate quality and technical certainty, but would also require a hefty transfer fee, and he deviates tactically from the Diomande profile.

Yankuba Minteh represents a different track: a left-footed forward who likes to play from the right, with experience in England and a more accessible price tag. His dribbling numbers and presence in the final third suit what Liverpool are looking for, although his goal production is still under construction. The advantage is the shorter adaptation time to the physical and tactical demands of the Premier League.

In addition, Liverpool, true to its own recruitment philosophy, is looking at emerging talents. Said El Mala and Matias Fernández-Pardo are mentioned as promising profiles with productive seasons behind them. They would not be instant replacements at the level of Diomande or Barcola, but they would fit into a long-term strategy: get in early before the market value explodes, and facilitate development within a flexible attack line.

Important: not every solution has to come from outside. Earlier in the window, Liverpool signed Victor Muñoz, a winger who can operate on either flank. His arrival will allow the staff to redistribute responsibilities to the sides instead of piling all the production on one player. More and more top teams are opting for this hybrid model: combining one targeted reinforcement with tactical adjustments and internal growth.

The temptation to act quickly after missing a main target is great, but Liverpool is known for a measured, data-driven approach. Diomande's preference for PSG illustrates the reality of the market: player power, competing projects and financial relationships often determine the outcome. The key lies in the response: do you choose the certain quality injection of Barcola, the Premier League-proof dynamics of Minteh, or thelong-term potential of El Mala and Fernández-Pardo – supported by the flexibility that Muñoz already offers? The transfer window is still open, and the options are wide. The final choice will guide the next iteration of Liverpool's attack.
