Kuijt leaves FC Dordrecht and returns to Fenerbahçe as assistant coach

Dirk Kuijt has left FC Dordrecht and joined Fenerbahçe as assistant coach. The Katwijker, who recently extended in Dordrecht, opts for a return to the club where he was active between 2012 and 2015. FC Dordrecht is considering Rick Adjei (Go Ahead Eagles) for the successor.

Dirk Kuijt has left FC Dordrecht and has been presented as assistant coach at Fenerbahçe in Istanbul. The Katwijker joins the technical staff of head coach Ismail Kartal.

It is striking that Kuijt recently extended his contract with Dordrecht. However, when Fenerbahçe reported, he quickly made it clear that he was keen to make the switch. Kuijt said via club channels: "Some journeys seem to end, but that never really is the case. Because when a place becomes part of who you are, you always find your way back. Now I'm back where I belong."

Fenerbahçe is familiar territory for Kuijt. Between 2012 and 2015 he played in Istanbul and built a strong bond with the supporters. In 95 matches in the Süper Lig, he scored 26 goals and 22 assists.

FC Dordrecht is considering Rick Adjei, currently assistant coach at Go Ahead Eagles, for Kuijt's successor.
