Jersey Bulls women end a perfect season with a Cherry Godfrey Cup win
The Jersey Bulls women put the icing on the cake by winning the Cherry Godfrey Cup in addition to their perfect league series. In the final, the title was only decided after penalties against Isle of Man.
The women of Jersey Bulls have ended their already successful football year with the victory of the Cherry Godfrey Cup. This performance follows their previous triumph in the Muratti Vase, which saw Guernsey convincingly defeated 6-1.
In the semi-final on Guernsey, Jersey won 3-0 against Isle of Wight thanks to goals from Sofia Rodrigues, Roisin Flynn and Holly Sundby. In the final battle, Jersey had to face defending champion Isle of Man. After an exciting match, in which Natasha Keen leveled the score in the 88th minute, the match was decided by penalties. Tiff Sundby eventually used the decisive penalty, making Jersey the winner.
Trainer Chad Morris spoke of a physical and exciting final: "Isle of Man has always been the benchmark for us, they have consistently been on the podium in recent years. This victory, especially over Guernsey, makes it extra special. Many of these players have won every game this season."
Jersey Bulls thus ended their first season in English women's football undefeated and with two trophies.
