Inter interested in Real Madrid midfielder without clear role under Jose Mourinho

Real Madrid have attracted a lot of attention with their activity in the transfer market this summer, with the arrivals of Denzel Dumfries, Bernardo Silva, Ibrahima Konate and Marc Cucurella breathing new life into the squad. However, there is relatively little movement in the other direction. The only confirmed departures so far are the free transfers of Dani Carvajal, David Alaba and Dani Ceballos, none of whom played much of a role last season. There are a number of players being linked with a departure, but it appears no concrete offers have been made yet.


One of the names many think could leave soon is French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga, who is coming back from two difficult seasons that cost him his place in the World Cup with les Bleus. One of the destinations that could be open to Camavinga is Italian champions Inter. Italian sources report that Camavinga is not part of Mourinho's plans and that Inter have shown interest in him. After a charity match between Inter legends and Real Madrid legends, Inter president Giuseppe Marotta reportedly spoke to his Real Madrid colleague Florentino Perez about the possibility of signing Camavinga. The Athletic adds that Real Madrid are open to offers for Camavinga.

That said, the player himself is determined to stay at the club, and his camp has described an exit as 'impossible'. It is understood that he has not yet spoken to Mourinho. Camavinga is still young and has plenty of time to turn his career around, but it seems difficult for him to do so at the Santiago Bernabéu. Camavinga has not enjoyed regular playing time for several seasons, and the feeling that he has not yet found a regular role has been exacerbated by injuries in the past two years. It appears he is unlikely to excel as a defensive midfielder, but with Fede Valverde, Jude Bellingham and now Bernardo Silva as competition, and another expected player, consistent minutes appear difficult to come by.
