Inter remains behind Bastoni during investigation; no rush with a possible transfer

Inter have backed Alessandro Bastoni as the Italian defender is the subject of an investigation into alleged underage prostitution. The Milan club has no intention of making hasty decisions or putting the international on the market, despite rumors of interest from abroad.

Bastoni received a formal notice earlier this week that he is being investigated over an allegation that he paid for sex acts with a 17-year-old girl in June 2020. The young woman has now been heard by the prosecutor and has stated that no sexual relationship took place. According to reports, Bastoni himself holds the same view.


La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Inter contacted Bastoni immediately after the news became known. The club management has expressed its support to the centre-back and stated that he is not alone in this matter.

From a sporting point of view, nothing will change in the short term: Inter is not actively looking for a sale as a result of the investigation. However, as for several players, an attractive offer this summer could lead to a conversation between club and player. Barcelona was mentioned earlier this year, but that track seems to have cooled off. In Spain there are now whispers of interest from José Mourinho and Real Madrid, although there is currently no formal contact between the two clubs.

For the time being, Bastoni will remain part of the plans in Milan, while the legal investigation is ongoing and Inter is closely monitoring developments.
