FIFA obliges Jamal Musiala to cover headphone logo for Germany - Curaçao World Cup match
FIFA has forced Jamal Musiala to cover the logo of his Beats by Dre headphones ahead of the Germany – Curacao World Cup match, as the brand is not an official sponsor of the tournament. Musiala, who has a personal deal with the manufacturer, adhered to the regulations. Such sponsorship measures have previously been applied to major tournaments.
Before the World Cup match between Germany and Curaçao in Group E (7-1 win for Germany), Jamal Musiala received a remarkable request from FIFA. The midfielder of the German national team was ordered by the world football association to cover the logo of his Beats by Dre headphones. This happened because Beats by Dre is not an official sponsor of the 2026 World Cup.
Musiala, who is personally associated with the brand, complied with the request by covering the logo with tape. FIFA prescribes such measures during official events surrounding the tournament: only brands that sponsor the World Cup may be visible on player attributes. These rules apply to all players, regardless of personal sponsorship contracts.
It is not the first time that such restrictions have applied. Previously, during Euro 2020, players were asked to remove unauthorized drinks from press conference tables if the brand was not a tournament partner.
After this big victory, the German team is at the top of Group E of the 2026 World Cup. Germany's next group match is against Ivory Coast on June 20.
