Ecuadorian defender Piero Hincapié completes permanent move to Arsenal while at the World Cup
Piero Hincapié has officially signed a permanent contract with Arsenal as he competes in the World Cup following a successful loan spell.
Arsenal completed the permanent transfer of Ecuadorian defender Piero Hincapié on Thursday, just ahead of his country's important group match against Germany at the World Cup. Hincapié met the conditions for a full-time contract during his loan spell with the English champions, which he had with Bayer Leverkusen last season. He will officially become an Arsenal player from Wednesday. Hincapié, 24, made 39 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal last season, mainly sharing the left flank with Riccardo Calafiori. Hincapié played the full 90 minutes in Ecuador's first two group matches at the World Cup: a 1-0 defeat against Ivory Coast and a 0-0 draw against Curaçao.
