Thieves from England World Cup squad arrested: here's what was stolen
The England national team have suffered theft during their move to Kansas City for the World Cup. Two suspects have been arrested and most of the stolen goods have been recovered.
England was the victim of theft on Saturday during the trip from West Palm Beach to Kansas City, where national coach Thomas Tuchel's team is preparing for the start of the World Cup. Initially it was speculated that important analysis equipment and players' football boots had disappeared. However, it now appears that no crucial information or football equipment was stolen.
According to the BBC, most of the stolen goods have now been returned to the England team. The contents of the loot appear striking. According to the indictment, the two suspects took, among other things, two lion cuddly toys, which serve as mascots for The Three Lions. A Bluetooth speaker and a LEGO set of a Nike shoe with an estimated value of around one hundred euros also disappeared. The greatest financial damage was in three signed England shirts.
Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson said she was pleased with the speedy handling of the case. “We thank the Kansas City Police Department and our officers for their quick work in investigating this incident and promptly filing charges. Our office remains committed to holding these individuals accountable. We understand that a large part of the stolen items have now been recovered.'
The impact seems limited within the English selection. Defender Dan Burn indicated that the playing group was hardly concerned about the incident. 'I personally haven't lost anything. We actually heard it through you," he referred to the media. “It hasn't really been talked about, so that shows they're not too concerned about it. The incident has not disrupted our preparations.”
