Chelsea in talks about signing Serie A back Marco Palestra
Chelsea are in talks to sign Marco Palestra from Atalanta. The Italian right back grew into one of the most striking young defenders in Serie A at Cagliari. Under new coach Xabi Alonso, Palestra could give Chelsea's defense more quality and depth.
Chelsea are currently in advanced talks to sign Atalanta right-back Marco Palestra. This is what journalist Luca Cerchione reports. The 21-year-old Italian, who played on loan for Cagliari last season, impressed with 37 appearances, a goal and four assists. Due to his strong performances, Palestra is seen as one of the greatest defensive talents in Serie A.
The young full-back is known for his tackling ability, defensive reliability and ability to pose danger down the right flank. Palestra is primarily deployed as a right back, but can also operate as a left back or right midfielder. With his current contract at Atalanta until the summer of 2029, a move to Chelsea will not be easy or cheap.
