Batistuta: "The final will be between Argentina and France. Lautaro must play"
Gabriel Batistuta is looking forward to Argentina's match against Cape Verde and predicts a final between Argentina and France.
Gabriel Batistuta, the legendary former striker of Roma and Fiorentina, among others, looks confidently at Argentina's upcoming match against Cape Verde. "It's a different stage, the group stage is different than when you have to compete to progress or go home. A lot of people forget that football is about chasing the ball, which sometimes hits the post and you don't know if it's going in or not," Batistuta said in a recent interview.
He also focused on the attack of the Argentina squad and the competitive advantage between Lautaro Martínez and Julián Álvarez. "If Lautaro performs well, it makes sense for him to play. But Julián is also a great player and deserves to play, considering he is world champion. It is inevitable that if you take either of them out it will seem unfair. It is up to Scaloni to make that decision."
When asked about his prediction for the final, Batistuta said: "For two years I have been saying that the final will again be between France and Argentina and I do not change my opinion. I also said this to Telemundo, where I commentate the matches. I feel good about that and am enjoying the World Cup."
