The memory of November 18, 2001 is still fresh in the minds of the supporters. Atalanta, led by Giovanni Vavassori, was then in a dire situation with only four points from the first seven games. After a win and a draw against Lecce and Roma, there was an urgent need for a win to escape the danger zone.
