Álex Berenguer after a big win over Athletic Bilbao over Getafe

According to Mundodeportivo.

Background

A key player for Athletic Bilbao, Álex Berenguer has proven his value to the team with his work ethic and attacking threat. His ability to perform in important games, such as against Getafe, is vital to the club's La Liga ambitions. Berenguer's playing style is at its best when the team is performing well collectively.

Why this matters

Athletic Bilbao's victory over Getafe is crucial for the team's confidence in La Liga. Álex Berenguer's positive reactions highlight the progress the team has made, especially after a series of matches in which they failed to fully convince. This result could help Athletic maintain their form and move further up the league.

Key points

• Álex Berenguer after a big win over Athletic Bilbao over Getafe.
• Berenguer praises the play of Athletic Bilbao after a big win over Getafe and emphasizes that the team now put together a complete match.
• Berenguer: "Ha salido todo, el equipo ha hecho un gran fútbol".

Álex Berenguer was a satisfied man after Athletic Bilbao's big victory over Getafe. The winger from Navarra emphasized that it was finally all right for his team: “Everything worked, the team played great football and played very well.” At the same time, he put the victory into perspective by pointing out Athletic's recent form: “We came from a series with good, but not complete games.” In other words: in this match against Getafe the puzzle piece did fall into place.

The gist of Berenguer's words is in line with the image that many followers of Athletic will have in recent weeks: the Basques showed excellent phases in several matches, but sometimes lacked the full control or sharpness to make the difference bigger. It was different against Getafe. While the Madrid formation is normally known as a tough opponent that makes it difficult for the top and sub-top clubs, Athletic managed to increase the pressure, create opportunities and actually capitalize on them. The result was a convincing result that gives confidence for the coming weeks.

Such a performance is also important for Berenguer himself. The winger has been a fixture at Athletic for some time due to his work ethic, depth and ability to become dangerous one-on-one. His play is often at its best in matches where the team as a whole runs smoothly. His reactions afterwards underline that feeling: the combination of intensity without the ball and daring on the ball produced exactly the kind of match Athletic was looking for.

The Basque club - known for its policy with a strong regional identity - is thus further building stability and a recognizable way of playing. Against Getafe we managed to find the balance between compact defending, quick switching and neat positional play. The margin on the scoreboard reflected that dominance. Such competitions are commonguiding: they set the tone in the dressing room, give the selection guidance and make it clear what level is required to structurally participate in the sub-top of Spain.

Getafe, which is usually characterized by discipline and physical duel strength, gained little grip this time. Athletic found the free man more quickly, shifted the game where necessary and gave little away. That makes Berenguer's satisfaction understandable. His words “everything worked out” not only summarize the feeling in the group, but also set the bar for the coming matches. Because while he indicated that previous matches were “good, but not complete”, this big victory offered the example of a mature performance for ninety minutes.

For Athletic it is now about maintaining this line, monitoring the intensity and showing the same sharpness in matches where the opponent will dig in even further. If the automatisms continue to grow and the chances are finished as coolly as against Getafe, this victory could be the starting point of a longer consistent series. For Berenguer and his teammates, that is the concrete goal after an evening when everything was finally right.

What's happening now

With this victory, Athletic Bilbao can focus on the coming matches with renewed confidence. Berenguer and his teammates will try to continue this trend and improve their performances in La Liga. The challenge will be to show consistency, especially against teams known for their defensive strength, such as Getafe.
