AC Milan presents Rúben Amorim as its new head coach
Rúben Amorim is the new coach of AC Milan. The Portuguese has signed a contract until mid-2028 and succeeds Massimilliano Allegri, who left after one season. Amorim wants to take a new direction with his appointment after missing out on Champions League football.
AC Milan has appointed Rúben Amorim as its new head coach. The Serie A club from Milan has officially confirmed his arrival. The 41-year-old Portuguese coach signs until the summer of 2028 and takes over from Massimilliano Allegri, who left the Rossoneri after one season.
Milan, which finished in fifth place in Serie A last season and was unable to secure Champions League football, previously chose Oliver Glasner in vain. A scenario with Ralf Rangnick as technical director was also considered, but in the end the club invested its confidence in Amorim.
Amorim was previously at the helm of Sporting Portugal, where he achieved great success as a trainer with national titles in 2020/21 and 2023/24. His spell at Manchester United lasted fourteen months and was less successful; he left there earlier this year due to disappointing results.
During his presentation, Amorim showed his ambition: 'It has always been my dream to be the coach of AC Milan. The history, prestige and support of this club are impressive. I want to take on this challenge with pride and enthusiasm and prove myself at Milan. I'm looking forward to getting started.'
