AC Milan and Manchester United write a new chapter in Wrocław: a friendly match on August 15

AC Milan will face Manchester United in a friendly match at the Tarczyński Arena in Wrocław on Saturday, August 15. For the Rossoneri, the match is a serious test shortly before the start of the new Serie A season.

The meeting brings together two European superpowers who have met regularly over the past 25 years, both in official tournaments and during summer internships. In the Champions League, AC Milan forced two painful eliminations for Cristiano Ronaldo's United: in the eighth finals of 2004/05 and in the semi-finals of 2006/07, when the Italians played a 'Perfect Match' in the return at San Siro. United later took revenge in the round of 16 in 2009/10 and also knocked Milan out of the Europa League in 2020/21, again in the round of 16.


The poster also often provided a spectacle in practice matches. In July 2004, a match at the New York Giants Stadium ended 1-1, after which AC Milan won the penalty shootout 10-9 thanks to a decisive save by Dida on goalkeeper Tim Howard's effort. After heavy practice defeats against city rivals Manchester City in 2013 and 2014, the rivalry with United flared up again in 2018 during the International Champions Cup: again 1-1 after 90 minutes, this time United won 10-9 after pins, with Franck Kessié missing in sudden death. A year later, in Cardiff, the English were again cool from the penalty spot: after 2-2 in regular time, United won 7-6.

This time the setting for the next chapter is Poland. In Wrocław the audience will once again face two world-class names, with enough historical significance to give the friendly bill extra shine.
